سابقه و هدف: بخش مرکزی بدن به عنوان زنجیره حرکتی بین اندامهای فوقانی و تحتانی برای انتقال نیروی مؤثر در سراسر بدن ضروری است. به نظر میرسد قدرت بخش مرکزی شناگران با عملکرد شنا بویژه در شنای سرعتی ارتباط داشته باشد. از اینرو، هدف از این مطالعه، بررسی اثر 8 هفته تمرین قدرتی مرکزی بر عملکرد شناگران دخترسنین دانشگاهی بود. روششناسی: برای انجام این تحقیق، 22 دختر شناگر با میانگین سنی 63/1±85/20 سال به طور هدفمند انتخاب و بطور تصادفی در دو گروه تجربی وکنترل قرار گرفتند. از هر دو گروه آزمونهای ثبات مرکزی و آزمونهای عملکرد شامل آزمونهای عملکرد جسمانی و عملکرد شنا به عمل آمد. آزمونهای عملکرد شنا شامل رکورد شنای آزاد 50 و 100 متر بود. پس از انجام آزمونها، گروه تجربی تمرینات قدرتی مرکزی را به مدت 8 هفته و هفتهای سه روز انجام دادند. تمام آزمونها بعد از 8 هفته تمرین مجدداً تکرار شدند. برای تحلیل دادهها، از آزمونهای آماری t همبسته و t مستقل در سطح معناداری 05/0≥p استفاده شد. یافتهها: نتایج نشان داد بعد از تمرین، زمان شنای 50 متر سرعت در گروه تجربی 99/4 درصد نسبت به گروه کنترل و زمان شنای 100 متر سرعت 23/0 درصد در مقایسه با گروه کنترل کمتر بود؛ اما تفاوت بین دو گروه به لحاظ آماری معنادار نبود. بعد از 8 هفته تمرین، کاهش زمان شنای 50 و 100 متر سرعت در گروه تجربی در مقایسه با پیش آزمون نیز معنادار نبود. نتیجه گیری: براساس نتایج تحقیق، تمرین قدرتی مرکزی تأثیر مطلوبی بر ثبات مرکزی و همچنین عملکرد جسمانی داشت، اما باعث بهبود معنادار زمان شنا در شناگران دختر جوان نشد.
