Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate effect of eight weeks of Pilates training at home and in the sun on vitamin D levels and some functional indicators of women with MS during the coronavirus outbreak. Materials and Methods: The present study was quasi-experimental and applied. In this study, 44 women with MS in Fasa (with2-5EDSS) were purposefully and voluntarily selected and randomly divided into three groups of Pilates exercises at home (N=15), Pilates exercises in the open (N=15) and the control group (n=14). The training program, three sessions per week for eight weeks, consisted of two parts, Pilates training at home and Pilates training in the open. The training program was provided to them using a DVD. Balance indices (one-legged balance test).muscular endurance (lying down).cardiorespiratory endurance(6-minute walking test) and flexibility test (upper body flexibility) were measured in patients with MS before and after eight exercises. Analysis of covariance and Banferroni post hoc test were used to examine the data. Results: The results of analysis of covariance showed that before and after eight weeks of Pilates training, there was a significant difference in the indices of balance, muscle endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility and serum vitamin D(P≤0.05).Conclusion: It is possible that Pilates exercises at home and outdoors can improve some indicators of physical function in women with multiple sclerosis. However, patients with multiple sclerosis are advised to use outdoor aerobic exercise under the same conditions, in order to improve their physical function and immunity while absorbing more vitamin D.
