[English]

Background&Purpose: Intensity endurance training induces oxidative stress in athleteis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of curcumin supplementation and light resistance training on superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of kidney tissues and malondialdehyde (MDA) as oxidative status level during 8 weeks of endurance training in male wistar rats.
Methodology: 33 Male Wistar rats (weight= 255.62±19.99 g, age= 8 weeks) were randomly divided in to 4 groups; Control (n=6), Endurance(n=9), Endurance+curcumin(n=9), Endurance+curcumin+resistance(n=9) after 1 week orentatioon period .Endurance training(8 weeks, 5 sessions per week) were carried out on an animal treadmill. The speed and duration of running were 10 m/min and 30 min at first week, respectively and reached to the 35 m/min and 70 min up to the last week. Resistance training (8 weeks, 2 sessions per week) were carried out on vertical ladder with extra weight (30-70% BW) fixed on tail. The animals received curcumin supplement by sub peritoneal injection (8 weeks, 3 sessions per week, 30 mg/kg.Bw). SOD activity and MDA levels of kidney tissues were measured by spectrophotometric. Analysis of variance was used to analysis of the data.
Results: The results of this study showed that strenuous endurance training decreases the SOD activity of and increases the MDA levels of kidney tissues (PConclusion: Based on findings of this study, it seems that curcumin supplementation and curcumin combined with light resistance training can prevent oxidative stress during strenuous endurance training.
