Abstract

Purpose: As the most common cause of heart failure, heart attack is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases in developing and industrialized countries. The purpose was to investigate the effect of 10 weeks of aerobic exercise after stem cell transplantation on Apelin 13 and cardiac output of heart infarction model rats.
Materials and methods: In this experimental study, 60 male rats were used and divided into 6 groups of 10 each, healthy control group, patient control, sham, cell, exercise and cell + exercise. To cause cardiac infarction, the anterior descending artery was completely blocked using 0.6 silk thread. After extracting stem cells, using neobar slide, about 106 cells were injected for each mouse through the tail vein immediately after induction of cardiac infarction. Rats in the training group performed aerobic exercise with an intensity of 17 meters per minute for 10 weeks. Cardiac output was measured by echocardiography and Apelin 13 values by a laboratory kit. To determine the normality of the data distribution the Shapiro-wilk test was used, one-way analysis of variance test was used to check the significance, and the Tukey test was used to check the significance of the difference between the groups.
Findings: 10 weeks of aerobic training after stem cell transplantation caused a significant increase in the serum levels of apelin 13 (P=0.000) and cardiac output (P=0.000) in heart infarction rats.
Discussion: The results of this research showed that aerobic exercise after MSC transplantation caused a significant increase in Apelin 13 and cardiac output.
